Coronavirus and the changing rules for large gatherings has meant many couples have had to move, shake and change plans, with no certainty as to when things will go back to a new ‘normal’.
Melbourne venue Metropolis Events like many venues across the country felt the challenges and impacts of COVID-19 earlier this year as couples were left with the decisions to move and rearrange their day. The venue quickly began working closely with couples on what they have termed “Re-Imagining” their special day; “It became evident that we needed to modify our wedding packages and with a little creativity created three re-Imagined packages for those who want to persevere through these trying times. With our new normal being a lesson in letting go of what was and embracing what is, a reality for so many brides and grooms around the world.”

THE WEDSTIVAL
Often referred to as a sequel wedding. This type of wedding gives you the opportunity to wed in an intimate setting, in front of witnesses and then celebrate with your friends and family at a later date. This lets you “have your cake and eat it too”, meaning that you don’t have to compromise on the guest list, venue or style. Many couples have been opting for this style of wedding throughout the COVID period, even giving their guests the opportunity to watch the ceremony through a live stream or pre-recorded video. Metropolis Events now has a virtual studio that can be used to live stream or record your special day.
THE MINIMONY
The Minimony is a trend that has grown in popularity over the years. Couples opt to have a smaller ceremony of fifty or less guests often followed by a small reception. If the thought of pleasing your guests stresses you out or you have a smaller budget to work with, or maybe you would just prefer to celebrate with just your closest friends and family, the Minimony is for you! It has been an increasingly popular choice throughout the pandemic and we don’t see it slowing down anytime soon.
THE ELOPEMENT
The definition of an elopement has changed over the years. Traditionally eloping was a spur of the moment decision. As time has evolved, personalisation has become increasingly important to couples. In this day and age, many elopements are pre-planned events, giving couples the opportunity to style their wedding and select the perfect wedding venue or backdrop for the special occasion.
